When guests are looking at my trip maps, they see the trip name on the black menu bar. But, most do not realize that, even with the little triangle, if they click on that menu item, they can change the trip details. It would be nice to expand that menu item to something like "2016 Road Trip - Map Settings"
One of the issues that I find with many web sites and programs is that the developers become so familiar with every little detail that they loose perspective on how a person viewing it for the first time, or even just occasionally, would be able to navigate the fundamentals of its use. This isn't a criticism but just part of human nature.

The intention is to make these links look more like buttons - something that can be clicked.
And you're right. My day job is as a back-end, server-side developer. I decided user interface design wasn't my forte almost 30 years ago. So I rely on feedback like yours and templates like bootstrap and smartadmin to help me build a clean, intuitive user interface. We're getting there.
