At the moment I enjoy the public + security zones setup. I like embedding the final trip in my blog. and forever my security zones are obeyed.
But I'd like to also grant my daughter access to my position (inside my security zones) and still keep my trips public (for my blog). My daughter doesn't have a device and I see no real need to see her position anyway. But is there a way to grant her (or other trusted family members) my current position (inside my security zones) without making my trips private or password protected? thanks Alan
Public and private trips are how this setup is accomplished. Couple of things to consider that will help you decide the correct approach...
Trips can be private and not have a password. A password is just a bit of extra security. Marking a trip private just means SpotWalla wont return the trip in any public searches. So if you (and those you share it with) don't share the link publicly, it should remain private.
If you choose to use a password, share the link with the password in the URL. This will allow those you share it with to just click a link. As long as they don't share the link with others, you should be good.
Forget about trips and use Family and Friends. She would need to create an account and establish a "friendship" with your account. She could then use the Family & Friends Viewer to see where you're at, where you've been, etc.
I use year-long, private, password-protected trips. I send my family the link with the password embedded and ask them to not share the link with anyone. I create public trips when I want to share a trip publicly.
Jason - Since the secure zones are set up by device, how do you allow a private, password protected year-long trip to show "when I'm home" and not show "this is where I live" for public trips?

Hey, James. In the trip update page there's a security option that reads "Apply active secure zones?". When this is toggled to YES, the device's active secure zones will be honored. When it's toggled to NO the active secure zones will not be honored. So for your private trips toggle this to NO and for your public trips toggle it to YES.
