I've bought Bubbler GPS Pro 2.5.01 and it's running in my Samsung S8 (Android 9). It works with my SpotWalla account without problem. For avoiding S8 battery optimization stops the app, I've done these tests with smartphone display ON. Samsung S8 is mounted in my motorcycle and it has a USB-C power cable connected (so it run with external power). I live in a metropolitan area with 4G+ mobile data connection and a good GPS/GLONASS/GALILEO/BEIDU reception (yes, S8 support all these systems :-) . Position acquire from GPS cold startup time usually is 1-3 seconds. Very very fast.
1) For testing purpose I've setup Bubbler update frequency = 5 minutes and GPS timeout = 45 sec and start a trip. GPS points are recorded with very different timing : sometimes 6 minutes, sometimes 7 minutes, sometimes more.... very inconstant.
2) During test I've stopped my 4G mobile data connection to see if Bubbler does points caching (as I run out of mobile cell coverage, i.e. mountains). Well, It looks to stop recording any points and it cache nothing (but the app is running). If I enable checkbox "Only communication over Wifi" , Bubbler starts to cache points correctly but if I enable 4G data connection it obvioulsy doesn't send nothing.
I'm a bit confused.....
I find that Bubbler doesn't work fine. And date is customized for U.S. (month/day/year) and this for European people is very bad.
I've made other tests with a different smartphone (Huawey P9 Lite). And there is something strange like Samsung S8 before. I'm not sure but ... perhaps I've found a bug.
== Case A == 1) The smartphone is connected to the Internet (mobile data o wifi). 2) Run Bubbler. Bubbler run fine and get GPS points and send them to SpotWalla 3) During your trip you run out of Internet connection (i.e. you are into mountains) 4) Bubbler cache further GPS points (and, when you reconnect to Internet, it will send to SpotWall) ALL WORKS FINE
== Case B == 1) The smartphone is connected to the Internet (mobile data o wifi). 2) Run Bubbler. Bubbler run fine and get GPS points and send them to SpotWalla 3) You MANUALLY switch off mobile data e/o wifi from smartphone setup menu (i.e. enable 'Airplane mode'). This for testing reasons. 4) Bubbler looks to work fine but IT DOESN'T cache any points. Simply it does nothing. "last GPS activity" is updated, "last gps point" is frozen and "Points waiting" still "0"
So it seems that if you manually stop data connection, Bubbler stop working.
Any idea ? tested with 2 smartphone.
